RELATED | THE BRONTËS AND THE VICTORIAN MRS. ROBINSON – FINOLA AUSTIN ON ‘BRONTË’S MISTRESS’
If you’re a fan of the Brontës or love stories that give voices to lesser-known women in history, you should look at Brontë’s Mistress. Overall, this is a fabulous character study and well-researched historical fiction novel about the woman who had an affair with Branwell Brontë.

The long-awaited retelling of Twilight from Edward’s point of view is finally here! Certainly, as a huge vampire fan, I couldn’t be more excited. Eighty Days to Elsewhere is a fun new book release for adventurers or even those who enjoy traveling within the pages of a good novel. August 18, 2020
#6: Atomic Love
Genres: Historical Fiction, Historical Romance, Mystery, Espionage Thriller
A part sweeping love story, part espionage thriller, this historical fiction novel is already getting rave reviews. In Atomic Love, Rosalind must choose between an old love who might be passing nuclear secrets to Russia and the secret agent she’s starting to fall for.
#7: Death at High Tide (Island Sisters Mystery #1)
Genres: Cozy Mystery, Thriller
While several reviews compare this new mystery series to Agatha Christie, I am here for the Cornish coast and the cat. I do love a good cozy mystery (especially when there are adorable cats). With potential romance as well, is anyone else ready to delve into Death at High Tide?
#8: The London Restoration
Genres: Historical Fiction, Historical Romance, WWII
RELATED | AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT AND INTERVIEW: RACHEL MCMILLAN – WRITER OF HISTORICAL MYSTERIES AND CONTEMPORARY ROMANCES
The latest romance from Rachel McMillan takes place post-WWII and is as much about the restoration of London as it is about a restoration of marriage. Brent and Diana were both altered by war, but perhaps they can start over despite the secrets between them. It sounds like a lovely new book release.
August 25, 2020
#9: The Royal Governess: A Novel of Queen Elizabeth II’s Childhood
Genres: Historical Fiction, WWII, Biographical Fiction
Overall, this one is for fans of period dramas like The Crown or dramas with strong upstairs/downstairs themes. Furthermore, The Royal Governess sounds like an exquisitely, well-researched read. The story focuses on Queen Elizabeth’s controversial governess, who writes the first tell-all about the royal family.
#10: Where Dreams Descend

With magic, diverse characters, and a ton of epic romantic fantasy, Where Dreams Descend is one of the most anticipated new YA novels of the year. If you love sweeping love stories with a good dose of magic and mystery, check out Where Dreams Descend.
