Oh, great list, although I have to add the misty rain from the gazebo scene in Anne of Avonlea, where she meets Gil and he tells her he’s engaged to another and there’s such awkwardness and longing and the beginnings of a realization in Anne that she loves that man…And, of course, the proposal scene from Pride & Prejudice in 2005 where Darcy declares his devotion and Lizzy burns him and it’s in a downpour…
That scene from the 2005 P&P is what immediately came to my mind when I saw the title of post. Such a great scene!
Thank you! That’s sounds lovely. With P and P I was torn between that or sense and sensibility. It was very close. : )
The list , fantastic as it is, would not be complete without Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore in “The End of the Affair” He is holding his raincoat over their heads as an umbrella and then they kiss, and just before he says he is jealous of the rain that touches her. Sooooo romantic!
Thank you. I have not seen The End of the Affair but I have heard good things. i will be sure to check that scene out. : )
What a great list. Of course for a rain scene I always think of The Sound of Music when Rolf and Liesl get caught in the rain only to take refuge in the gazebo.
Thanks! Ah yes, I completely forgot about The Sound of Music! That’s a great example.
