The actor playing the male lead is so gentle, it’s a lovely film.

I’ve seen many of these. However, my most favorite version is the CBS series with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. I was only 20 when that show came on the air and was immediately mesmerized by it. Thanks for including it at a respectable #6! I am also excited to be able to re-watch the Hallmark Hall of Fame version from 1976. I remember that version and have been looking for it for years! Thanks again!

Hi! I wish I knew what that one is. It could be that it was an adaptation that re-aired but wasn’t made in 76 or 77. Or maybe it was lost over time. Could it have been a foreign version? It’s hard to say. The 1946 version, La Belle et La Bete certainly has a beast that looks lion-like. And he does carry Beauty.

It played on tv circa 1976 or 1977. I cannot find it anywhere. That same year was a Cinderella tv adaptation as well – I eventually found it last year – it was called the rose and the slipper starring Richard Chamberlain. I am very frustrated that I cannot find it!!!!! All I remember of it was a scene where the beast was very angry that beauty had rejected him and she ran away from the fireplace very scared and ran up the stairs – only to have him appear at the top and then she fell down the stairs and blacked out. I thought at first it was the George C. Scott one – but that scene was not in it and the tv version I saw had the beast more like a lion than a pig. Can you help me at all? Thank you kindly.

Worth hunting down if you’ve never seen it.
